An osprey attempting to build a nest on a key hydro line in Innisfil, caused a power outage that affected around 8,500 InnPower customers on Monday, including areas connected through supply circuits from Alliston.
The bird was spotted dropping branches onto the lines near 6th Line and 20th Sideroad, prompting crews to temporarily shut off power for safety while they removed the debris.
The osprey was unharmed, and no nests were removed with birds present.
This incident comes just two weeks after a major ice storm that left nearly all 23,000 InnPower customers in the dark.
