The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual in connection with a suspicious death investigation, which has been ruled a homicide, in the Town of New Tecumseth.
On November 21, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police discovered the body of a deceased newborn in a residence in Alliston.
On January 15, 2024, a 16-year-old from the Town of New Tecumseth, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
· First Degree Murder
· Indignity to Dead Body
he accused remains in custody and is scheduled to virtually appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on January 16, 2025, to answer to the charges.
The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
