The Town of New Tecumseth is set to assume control over sections of County Road 1 and County Road 10 in Beeton and Tottenham in an effort to better manage future growth.
Under the agreement with the County of Simcoe, 1,500 meters of County Road 1, from the South Simcoe Railway tracks to the CP Railway crossing, and 650 meters of County Road 10, from Tottenham’s southern limit to the 3rd Line, will be transferred to the Town.
While the transfers officially took place on January 1, of this year, the County will maintain these roads until June 1, 2027, to facilitate a smooth transition.
The changes in Beeton will support the urbanization of County Road 1 to accommodate the Beeton Meadows development, allowing the Town to apply its own engineering standards, implement traffic control measures, and ensure easier access for future watermain maintenance.
