Simcoe County Council has revisited a previous decision to reduce the size of the Council from 32 to 17 members, including a full-time, appointed Warden.
If approved, the Mayors of the County’s 16 municipalities would serve as County representatives…beginning next term.
The Warden would be selected by the incoming Council from eligible electors who volunteer for the position.
The changes must be approved through a triple majority process, with the final decision taking effect for the 2026-2030 term, while the current structure remains in place for the remainder of THIS term.
The process includes a public meeting and approval from the lower-tier municipalities before the changes are finalized.
