Local police officers will be adding another piece of equipment to their tool belt.
The Bradford West Gwillimbury/Innisfil Police Services Board has approved a program that will see South Simcoe Police Service officers outfitted with Body-Worn Cameras.
Beginning next year (2023), 75 Body-Worn Cameras will be issued to front-line officers and members of the Traffic and Community Mobilization and Engagement Units.
Following a public survey and a 4-month pilot project, the police service has signed onto a 5-year agreement with AXON Public Safety Canada to use the cameras, in an effort
to aide in evidence collection and accountability.
