Dufferin OPP welcomes interim Operations Manager, Staff Sergeant Derek Banks.
Staff Sergeant Banks joined the OPP in 1995 at the Mount Forest Detachment in West Region.
Since then he has worked in various areas including the West Region Traffic Unit, Orillia and Huronia West Detachments, The Emergency Response Team (ERT) as a Constable, Instructor and a Sergeant and at Central Region Headquarters as the ERT Coordinator.
Most recently, Staff Sergeant Banks was the Operations Manager at the Huronia West Detachment.
Staff Sergeant Banks is excited to be joining Dufferin OPP and is looking forward to building relationships with a common vision for community safety.
Not only does he bring a wealth of policing knowledge to the area, Staff Sergeant Banks has received recognition for his service as a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, the Police Exemplary Service Medal and the Ontario Public Service Award.
The exceptional amount of experience that Staff Sergeant Banks possesses, his positive attitude, dedication to his work and professionalism make him a great asset to Dufferin County.
