Due to the COVID-19 pandemic they have increased bed capacity at the Alliston hospital.
They have created a dedicated Respiratory Unit, providing seven patient isolation rooms and upgraded their Medical/Surgical Unit to provide a negative pressure room for patients who are suspect COVID or COVID-positive.
That meant Stevenson Memorial has moved the Obstetrics Unit to the second floor of the hospital into Ambulatory Care.
The hospital also transformed their Day Surgery Recovery Room into a temporary four-bed Critical Care Unit.
Overall, the capacity planning has resulted in 20 beds available for patients at Stevenson Memorial during the pandemic.
They added that further planning is taking place in partnership with other facilities within the region to accommodate additional beds if needed.
