Danielle Williams made history, she is the first female to officiate in the OHL Cup which is a Triple A Midget tournament.
Danielle started playing hockey at the age of four and quickly graduated to timekeeping at 12 and reffing by the age of 14.
She got her start by following her mother into the hockey rink. And it was chance that led her to officiate the boyʼs teams.
She is now only one of a handful of young women who officiate but she is the only female linesman reffing the boys in the GTHL.
She is unsure if officiating will pan out into a life-long career but she will be officiating a number of games at the 2019 OHL Cup.
