In response to the recent announcement of U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods, New Tecumseth Mayor Richard Norcross has issued a statement expressing strong support for the local automotive manufacturing industry and outlining the town’s response to the situation.
“We support our automotive manufacturing industry in New Tecumseth and are working together to understand the full impact of the U.S. imposed tariffs. We will advocate on their behalf to the leaders of Canada and Ontario to engage with the US and come to a solution. In the short-term, New Tecumseth is implementing a more flexible Buy Canadian and Buy Ontario procurement policy to align with federal and provincial efforts to address tariffs and trade disruptions, while complying with existing trade agreements.”
