The Alliston Hornets find themselves now on the brink of elimination.
After dominating the regular season, and even going undefeated through the first two rounds of the PJHL Playoffs, the Hornets have struggled going up against the Orillia Terriers.
Game four took place on Wednesday, March 26th at the West Orillia Sports Complex, in front of 1119 people.
It was Orillia who scored first, opening the scoring just under three minutes into the game. Alliston’s Ben Smith would quickly answer back, scoring his 2nd of the playoffs, assisted by Jacob Holmes and Jax Bellwood. The game would stay tied 1-1 by the end of the first period.
In the second, the Terriers jumped out to another quick lead, netting a go-ahead goal within the first minute. They’d follow that up with two more goals. The Hornets wouldn’t go down without a fight, though, as Cole Turcotte buried his 9th of the postseason, assisted by Bellwood and Nick Lamont. Bellwood would then get a goal of his own to bring the game within one heading into the final frame.
The third period would be uneventful for the scoresheet, as Orillia beat Alliston 4-3.
Owen Butler was in net to start the game for Alliston. He stopped just 13 of 17 shots, giving him a lowly .764% save percentage and the loss. Seth Ronan eventually came into the game in relief, and was perfect for the night.
With their backs up against the wall, the Hornets return home for game five, down 3-1 in the series. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 28th at the New Tecumseth Recreation Centre. Ticket information can be found here.
