Centre ice for the Alliston Hornets
The Alliston Hornets are once again getting the brooms ready after game three of their second round playoff match-up.
On Wednesday, March 12th, the Hornets welcomed in the Penetang Kings to the New Tecumseth Rec Centre for game three. The Hornets went into this contest up 2-0 in the series.
It was all Alliston in the opening frame, with Duncan Grube and Will Hopcraft opening the scoring. The Hornets would lead 2-0 after 20 minutes of action.
In the second period, Hopcroft would score again, followed by goals from Mark Coish and Cole Turcotte. It was 5-0 Alliston heading into the final period.
While the Kings would score twice late in the third period, it wouldn’t be enough. Turcotte and Jaeden French added some insurance markers as the Hornets beat the Kings 7-2 to clinch game three.
Owen Butler was in net for Alliston, stopping 15 of 17 shots, good for the .882% save percentage and win.
480 people were in attendance for the midweek playoff game.
Game four will be a road game for the Hornets as they head to the Penetang Memorial Community Centre. Game time is set for 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14th.
If it ends up going to game five, it’s pre-emptively scheduled for Saturday, March 15th at 7:30 p.m. Ticket information can be found here.
