South Simcoe Police Service experienced its busiest month ever in January, with over 3,000 calls for service.
Deputy Chief Sheryl Sutton noted significant increases in incidents like intimate partner violence, break and enters, and motor-vehicle collisions.
The service handled 219 collisions, with the majority occurring in Innisfil, partly due to road closures and a snowstorm.
Additionally, proactive policing efforts contributed to a higher number of calls, including a successful traffic blitz.
The South Simcoe police service is also working to hire 12 new staff members in 2025 to support growing demands.
