If you score seven goals in the first period of a hockey game, you might just win that game.
The Alliston Hornets went into Muskoka on Wednesday, February 19th to take on the Bears in the first game of the first round of the PJHL playoffs.
It was Jaedon French who got things going for the Hornets, scoring just under three minutes into the game. He’d go on to get a hattrick in the first period, with Mitch Harding scoring a pair of his own, and both Nick Lamont and David Harvey adding goals as well. The Hornets led the Bears 7-0 after one period of play.
In the second period, the Bears would get on the board. That was quickly followed up with two more goals from French. His five goals in the game would help lead the Hornets to a 9-1 after a scoreless third period.
Seth Ronan was in net for the win. He stopped 11 of 12 shots, giving him a .916% save percentage.
Game two will take place in Alliston on Friday, February 21st. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. at the New Tecumseth Rec Centre. Ticket information can be found here.
