A standoff in north Barrie came to an end shortly after 4:00 this morning (nov20) and police were able to safely apprehend an individual involved in the incident on Bayfield Street.
A 43-year-old male from Barrie, surrendered to police after 16 hours and was taken into custody without issue.
The investigation is continuing, and charges against the individual are pending.
The evacuation of nearby homes remains in place at this time as police work to ensure the area is safe.
Schools in the area are not affected and will be open as usual.
The plaza the vehicle was parked at is no longer closed, and all businesses in the area are accessible.
