A special operation involving the transportation of 10 aircraft is set to take place Monday and Tuesday (may13/14).
You will have to stay up late to see it though.
The Royal Canadian Air Force will begin moving the recently acquired CT 155 Hawk jets from 4 Wing Cold Lake in Alberta to their final destination at Base Borden.
A number of roads will be affected by the move as the planes will not be flying into military base…they will come in on the back of trucks.
Reason being is Base Borden does not have an active runway, only a helicopter pad.
The Hawks, through recently retired from flying service, will be used for maintenance training.
Once en route, it is expected to take approximately 9 hours each night to move the planes from Collingwood to Base Borden.
Members of the public are requested to follow all road and safety directions provided by traffic control personnel, OPP and Canadian Forces Military Police.
