Today (apr8) is the day a total solar eclipse will sweep across North America, blocking out the sun momentarily for millions of people.
Darkness will last for just a few moments, but a lot will happen in that time.
The temperature will drop, your streetlights might flicker on, and birds and other animals might act a little off.
Niagara Falls will give you the best view, where the peak will last for about three minutes and 31 seconds.
Where we are located, the eclipse is expected to begin at approximately 2:05 this afternoon, peak around 3:19 and it will all be over at 4:31.
Residents are cautioned not to look at the eclipse without special eye protection though.
Sunglasses, windows and cameras will not provide you with adequate protection.
If you were thinking this was not a big event….. there will not be another total solar eclipse until 2144.
However, the next PARTIAL eclipse is expected on January 14 of 2029.
