Members of New Tecumseth Council have agreed to another round of talks regarding the replacement for Banting Memorial High School on the Banting Homestead following a convincing appeal.
Last Monday’s (dec11) Council meeting saw Simcoe County District School Board chairperson Jodi Lloyd make another appeal regarding the location.
During her presentation, Lloyd told council members only two location options are currently being considered, one is to build the school on the homestead, the other would see it placed at a
greenfield site.
Lloyd indicated the homestead is the preferred choice, as it is already prepped for water, sewers and other infrastructure, making it shovel ready.
She indicated that having to start from scratch and install those items on a piece of land without, could add an additional 5 to 6 years to the project.
Town staff has been directed to report back to Council.
