Erin Town Council has approved a 2.5% or $196k increase in total town property tax levy.
“Our priority, while considering this budget, was our residents and businesses who continue to feel the impacts of COVID19 and current high inflationary pressures,” said Mayor Michael Dehn.
“It was important that we kept our taxes as low as practicable without comprising any of our service delivery,” he continued.
A 2.5% tax rate increase translates to approximately $45 annual increase in taxes for an average residential home assessed at $600k.
Other highlights of the 2023 budget include:
- $875k towards roads equipment
- $450k towards Fire and Emergency Services
Some of the Capital Projects identified and recommended for 2023 include:
- Culvert 2053 replacement (27th Sideroad)
- IT system upgrades
“We used our tax rate stabilization reserve to reduce our taxes to 2.5% and stay focused on being fiscally responsible while respecting our taxpayers,” concluded Mayor Dehn.
