Theresa Watt is the Agriculture and Animal Science Teacher at Banting Memorial High School in Alliston.
She has been teaching the only Agricultural program offered in Simcoe County for the last 10 years.
It has been offered for as long back as records indicate, the school itself was built in 1951.
The program attracts students with a farming background and others who are interested in where their food comes from.
She says the class allows students a chance to care for live farm animals and get their hands dirty.
Ms. Watt says teaching was not her first choice as a profession though.
She says she initially set out to embark on a career in Veterinary Sciences but she says her love of learning and the skills she had acquired made teaching a good fit.
Being a teacher over the last 20 years, she says she has had the privilege of being a small part in the education of many students lives, something she takes very seriously and to heart.
Right now, Ms. Watt says the pandemic has turned teachers into problems solves as they try to navigate online school, hybrid classes, helping students and maintaining a positive mental balance in their home life.
