Ms. Jennifer Rennie is the Student Success Teacher at Banting Memorial High School in Alliston.
A self described people person, she says she always knew she would have a job working with people.
Working her way into the profession, Ms. Rennie began as a babysitter at an early age and spent time as a Big Sister and a soccer coach.
She also had an interest in what her Aunts, who worked as Teachers, were doing in their classrooms at the time.
Ms. Rennie works primarily with grade 8 students who are transitioning to high school.
She spends much of her time answering their questions about courses and making sure they have a familiar face to turn to when they enter Secondary School in September.
She is part of a team that includes Guidance Councilors and members of the Special Education Department.
Ms. Rennie says great moments in education for her are when students who have struggled throughout their time in school, are able to cross the stage at graduation and
accept their diploma.
The biggest success, she says, is when students are able to go forward in their life and make plans for the future.
