Essa Township – March 30, 2020
Today, March 30, 2020 Essa Township Mayor Sandie Macdonald has declared a State of Emergency as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Declaring an emergency with respect to the Covid-19 pandemic affords Essa Township Council and Staff the opportunity to reinforce the importance of acting now to
help flatten the curve of the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Measures to be undertaken:
avoid gatherings;
practice adequate social distance;
wash your hands for 20 seconds with soap and water;
cough or sneeze into your arm;
if you have any symptoms, self-monitor and self-isolate and contact a health care professional if symptoms persist .
The actions taken today support the previous declarations of the Province of Ontario, County of Simcoe as well as other local municipalities.
Essa Township strongly reminds our residents that the risks of the Covid-19 virus are very real and are in our community.
It is paramount that residents undertake all Public Health recommendations and the direction of our health care facilities and assessment centres so as not to exceed the capacity of our health care system.
The Township would like to express our thanks and extend our utmost respect to our front line workers including health care professionals, truck drivers and grocery store employees during this trying period of time.
